Today’s update from our account rep informed us that the Xbox360 Elite will be shipping in a new configuration on the 10th of this month, minus the HDMI and HD AV cables, now with regular AV. Attached was a message from Microsoft’s Retail Account Executive Jamie Merrill, stating that “This represents a great opportunity to attach the HDMI cable to all future Elite sales.”

While it’s not as disastrous as Sony’s nixing of backwards compatibility, this is the important first step in reminding players that “elite” is industry lingo for “sucker”. Further planned developments include a flashing neon sign on the side that highlights random racial epithets at random intervals, reminding you how to behave online, and a voice clip when your console red rings; either of Aaron Greenberg cackling “Who’s your daddy, bitch?” or a bloated Gabe Newell reminding you that “the PS3 is a waste of everybody’s time.”
